“I started in PR over 15 years ago where I spent the first
few years learning the ropes and gaining experience within a couple of big
agencies before setting up a company with a business partner in 2011.
I decided to sell my share in this successful venture in
2017 so that I could start an agency on my own – Clear Communications. This gave
me the freedom to approach client communications the way I believe it works
best – working closely with a select number of clients, being agile and
responsive to their needs and giving them complete access to my experience and
connections.
My mission is to make PR accessible to all restaurants and
events, particularly those that don’t have huge marketing budgets, or those who
might be struggling (especially in the current climate). Smaller agencies are
perfectly placed to help here, as they tend to be more flexible than the larger
ones.
The thing I love most about my work is when campaigns begin
to pay off and make a real difference to clients: the small restaurant that was
previously struggling sees a huge increase in bookings, or getting an older restaurant
back on the map and achieving new recognition. Helping and reinvigorating
businesses is what drives me.
My experience includes everything that’s connected to
hospitality. From Michelin-starred restaurants and pop-ups to venues, events
and even wine storage solutions. You name it, I’ve done it!
The most challenging campaign I experienced was
managing a pop-up event that took place on a crane 200 feet up in the air…not
ideal when you’re terrified of heights! Convincing press contacts this was a
great and unique experience is difficult when you’re holding on for dear life. Thankfully
the actual campaign turned out to be hugely successful, we achieved great
coverage and the event could’ve sold out many times over.
Away from the business, my husband and I are
kept on our toes by our very energetic 2-year-old son and our hyperactive
cocker spaniel puppy. Juggling everything can be sometimes be a challenge, but
we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
